ROUND-THE-WORLD TRIP IN ABSOLUTE DARKNESS again in Kolowrat Theatre
The Kolowrat Theatre presents an unconventional theatre performance – the theatre without seeing. Students of the Faculty of Theatre tell a famous story by Jules Verne and let the audience feel what it is like to travel around the world blindfolded. The performance works with fantasy provoked by sound, touch, feeling, smell, i.e. all senses except for sight. The project is not only focused on the visually impaired, but also on sighted audience members who would like to know what it is like to be blind.
The audience will be actively involved in the story.
Around the World in 80 days (1873) is an adventure novel by the French writer Jules Verne from his series Voyages Extraordinaire. Thanks to the thrilling plot and action, it is Verne’s most acclaimed work. The novel was translated into Czech in 1873. However, we are going to use our own translation and adaptation. The whole story, as well as the characters, will be adapted to deal with the fact that, the story will be told in an unprecedented manner - blindfolded. We will travel across four continents (Europe, Africa, Asia, America) to gather all kinds of experiences from the far corners of the world, which, at the end, will connect to only one – the world of fantasy.
JUDr. Dominika Kolowrat-Krakowska took personal auspices over this theatre performance.
The date of the next performance is 15 October 2012 at 7pm, at the Kolowrat Theatre, Ovocný trh 6, Prague
